I am a Reiki Master. I began my study of Reiki in October 2004. I completed level 1 Reiki and then a few years later completed my level 2 studies. Then I completed my Reiki Master training with Frank Coppieters in 2010. I have attended the Northwest National Reiki Gathering in 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013. It is my hopes to continue to attend this annual event where Reiki Masters and Practitioners gather from all over the US and internationally as well.
Reiki is a form of natural healing that takes place through gentle, sacred touch. It restores heath and harmony to the physical body, releases emotional blockages and activates a closer connection to spirit. It is also a wonderful and easy form of self-healing. Reiki works with the vibration of love and compassion. Its recent origins have been traced back to Japan in the late 1800’s I practice the Usui system honoring the lineage of Dr Mikao Usui, Hayashi, Takata and Furumoto who is the Lineage Bearer. I feel privileged to study with Reiki Master Frank Coppieters from Portland, Oregon. Reiki is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Energy. The practice of Reiki is a transfer of energy through one’s hands. Reiki energy can be used for physical and emotional healing, as well as the mind, body, spirit balance. Reiki is more than just a healing practice it is a way to live one’s life. The opening to this simple and mysterious universal life energy happens through a series of initiations and the practice of the form through various hand positions. I am full of gratitude for the opportunity to practice Reiki. Reiki offers us a Healing Practice, Personal Development, Spiritual Discipline, as well as a Mystic Order.
Reiki, the energy healing system, is based on the belief that thoughts have the power to direct energy—the underlying dynamo shaping the world. Often described as a form of Shinto-Buddhist Qigong Reiki was discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese, in the early 20th century.
A deep spiritual experience led him to devote several years to the study. During his quest he experienced an intense energy gratification, which had healing powers. He named this energy—Usui Reiki Ryoho.
Reiki (pronounced as `ray-key`) is made up of two words—`rei` and `ki`. `Rei` can be interpreted as a higher form of intelligence while `ki` denotes life force. Taken together, `reiki` is understood to be a kind of universal energy. This system heals by raising the vibrations, of the being or object to be healed, closer to that of the practitioner.
Reiki is transferred to students by Reiki Masters through a series of attunements. During an attunement process, the Master selects a series of symbols, which represent important points located along a person`s energy field, and guides them through higher vibrations of energy.
A transfer of energy: Both the givers and receivers all feel serene. I am sharing Reiki with my friends Neal and Jayne Ann.
